December 8, 2009 - The Sunstreak

Sunstreak 2009
After a long hiatus, I've finally gotten back to my favorite project. The Sunstreak were kind enough let me use their new single "Until I Met You" for Episode 4 of Empire Music. The song should be available for download from the usual suspects shortly. Enjoy.

September 13, 2009 - fun. at Water Street

OK, so technically this update is coming a lot later than I promised and it's not at big as I promised. I went to the show with every intention of recording some songs, which I did. The only problem was the equipment that I was using was not high enough quality to be shared in any capacity outside torture. If you don't particularly like yourself and would like to see what I recorded, check out my YouTube channel: EmpireMusic1234. A great Rochester act called Makyo Star opened for Miniature Tigers and fun. I was hoping to find recordings of them and fun. from the night of the show, but all I was able to find were three recordings from cinapps' YouTube channel. The video below is of fun. performing the first song of their encore. True, the audio is not of the greatest quality, but it's a hundred times better than what I recorded.
And, of course, what trip to Rochester would be complete without a stop for their trademark cuisine.

September 3, 2009 - Episode 3: Ten Year Vamp

Year Vamp 2009
We've finally branched out to the Capital district by featuring one of their premiere acts. Ten Year Vamp has lent a track from their new album "Don't Act Like You Know Me" for our third episode. Take a listen, then go buy their album. Links are below. Unfortunately, I can't control when these sites refresh my feed. If it's not up immediately on one, then go to one of the others. Oh, as a side note, you can turn this episode into a drinking game if you have a social every time I say "fan".

August 27, 2009 - Still Here
There have been some additions to the venue page, so check that out. I'm still working on expanding the directory. As I've said before, this will be a slow process and it is far from finished. Thanks to those who have sent venue listings. I apologize if your section of the state is underrepresented. I'm working on it.
Speaking of things I'm working on, I'm trying to land a track from a Capital region band. I'm hoping to stay on the monthly schedule for now until I can do a flyer blitz to entice more acts to submit music. Flyers will be available for download soon if you're of the helping kind. When they're up, go to your favorite local venue and post it. Thanks bunches in advance.

August 5, 2009 - The Second Try
The new version of Episode 2 is up. It's still featuring the Fated Grey, but highlights a different song (along with correcting some mistakes made on my part). Download it from the usual suspects.
July 23, 2009 - Updates
If you haven't figured it out, I've taken down episode 2. I was not really happy with it, so I'm going to revise it using a new song (also, I got one of the band members' names wrong). If you got your hands on the first version, consider yourself a proud owner of an authenic Empire Music rarity.
Also,
if you have checked the side links you will have seen that the Venue link
is horribly incomplete. Tonight I put a slew of contacts in the Central NY
section for Ithaca, NY. As I've said before, it's a work in progress and it's
going to be slow coming. The goal of the Venue page is twofold: first it will
offer people a list of local places to catch Upstate music and second it will
give bands contacts where they might play. If you know of an awesome venue
where you've played or caught a show let me know.

July 5, 2009 - Welcome to Empire Music
Welcome to the web home of an upcoming podcast from Jorge's Home. Empire Music is a bi-weekly audio podcast that highlights the immense talents of the upstate New York music community. I (Jorge) am a New York state ex-pat, and miss my home state terribly. I am sick of having to say explain to people when they go on long diatribes about New York City that I am from Upstate, and that when I say that I don't mean Poughkeepsie. If you need need an explanation of what Upstate New York is, go here. I don't specifically have anything against New York City, Long Island, or the counties of Westchester and Rockland, but my heart belongs to the whole of the Upstate region. I only left Upstate because I could not support myself there financially. I fully intend to return.
That said, this podcast is part a cure for my homesickness and part my humble attempt to better the area from which I hail. My goals are the following:
A basic show will include one track followed by some biographic info and means to find out more about the band. The show will cater mostly to Alternative Rock, but if there is enough interest other shows with different focuses may be produced. Once a few bands have submitted tracks, you'll be able to find the four most recent shows available for download here or on iTunes.
